Holidays in Ivory with Johnny Boyd

Press Release: Holidays in Ivory with Johnny Boyd – December 17

November 3, 2016 – Friends of Children of Walla Walla presents their annual “Holidays in Ivory” concert on Saturday, December 17 at 7:00 p.m. at Gesa Power House Theatre. This year’s fundraising event features crooner Johnny Boyd with his 5-piece band, an after party, and VIP seating options.
No one exemplifies modern-day crooning better than Johnny Boyd: smooth, romantic vocals; matinee idol charisma; classic gentleman’s style; and dynamic, irreverent performances. But it’s his fresh, emotive, all-original contributions to the Great American Songbook that will be his legacy.
A prolific songwriter, Johnny Boyd is renowned for his unique ability to seamlessly blend jazz, swing, pop, country, gospel and rock, bringing back the nostalgic charisma of a bygone era. He performs with: Michael Elson – piano/B-3 organ; Keith Brush – bass/vocals; A.G. Donnaloia – guitar; Ji Tanzer – drums/vocals; and Roberto Medina – congas/bongos.
NPR aptly stated, “If Frank Sinatra and Johnny Cash had a love child, it would be Johnny Boyd.” The Washington Post heralded Boyd as “romantic,” The New York Daily News touted him as “smooth,” and The San Francisco Bay Guardian lauded him “sophisticated and fun.” Indeed, Johnny Boyd is all of this and more.
Johnny Boyd has released seven albums, recorded more than sixty original songs and written dozens more. He has also licensed numerous original songs for use in major motion pictures, television and gaming.

Over the past 16 years, Friends has served nearly 1,000 children through its Community-Based (CB) and Adults Befriending Children (ABC) programs. The CB program is designed to create year-long one-on-one mentoring relationships between children and adults outside of a school-based context, while the ABC Program facilitates mentoring relationships on school grounds during the school year.
