Gesa Power House Theatre presents bluegrass singer-songwriter Molly Tuttle in concert on Thursday, October 18 at 7:00 p.m.
A virtuoso multi-instrumentalist and award-winning songwriter with a distinctive voice, Molly Tuttle began performing on stage when she was 11, and recorded her first album, The Old Apple Tree, at age 13. Since then, she’s appeared on “A Prairie Home Companion” and at “Hardly Strictly Bluegrass,” was featured on the cover of Flatpicking Guitar Magazine and Acoustic Guitar Magazine, won first place in the prestigious Chris Austin Songwriting Competition at Merlefest, and her debut solo album “Rise” hit #2 on the Billboard’s Bluegrass Albums chart.
In October 2017, Molly Tuttle became the first woman to be named the International Bluegrass Music Association’s “Guitar Player of the Year.” In 2018 she won the Song Of The Year Award at the International Folk Music Awards with “You Didn’t Call My Name.”
“Molly Tuttle….sings with the gentle authority of Gillian Welch, yet plays astoundingly fleet flat-picking guitar like Chet Atkins on superdrive.”
-Paul Zollo, American Songwriter Magazine
