Summer is for Camps

Summer is here. The kids are out of school. Are they already complaining that there’s “nothing to do” in Walla Walla? Have you thought about enrolling your family in a summer camp program. The summer camp season is already well underway in Walla Walla. There are even summer camp programs geared towards adults! From dance to theater to sports, there is something for everyone’s interests. Below is a (probably incomplete) schedule of camps in the valley.

June 1-22: Youth Fencing Lessons – Intermediate/Advanced 1 – Walla Walla Parks and Recreation
Fencing instruction for ages 9 to 17.

June 5-26: Youth Fencing Lessons – Beginning 1 – Walla Walla Parks and Recreation
Fencing instruction for ages 9 to 17.

June 7-9: Youth Golf Lessons 1 – Walla Walla Parks and Recreation
Golf instruction for all skill levels. For ages 7 to 16.

June 13-15: Prince & Princess Ballet Camp – The Dance Center of Walla Walla
Directed by Idalee Hutson-Fish. For ages 4 to 7.

June 13-16: Talariah Miniature Horse Camp: Session 1 – Talariah Stables
Kids learn horsemanship and horse safety and interact with miniature horses.

June 13-17: “Kids College” – Walla Walla Community College
Participants choose from a variety of classes (from Firefighting to Art to Baking) in each of three daily sessions.

June 13 – Aug. 5: Youth Swim Team – Walla Walla Parks and Recreation
For anyone ages 16 and under able to swim 25 yards.

June 20-22: Youth Tennis Lessons 1 – Walla Walla Parks and Recreation
Tennis instruction for all skill levels. For ages 6 to 18.

June 20-23: Talariah Miniature Horse Camp: Session 2 – Talariah Stables
Kids learn horsemanship and horse safety and interact with miniature horses.

June 20-26: Witty Fools Improv Camp – Shakespeare Walla Walla & WWCC Foundation
Learn the art of improvisational theater and comedy. Morning session for younger participants, evening session for adults. Culminates in a public performance.

June 20-23: Dance Camp: Sessions 1&2 – Walla Walla Dance Company
Jazz, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Lyrical, and Ballet with Jennifer and Justine. Ages 9 and up.

June 20-24: Elementary Camp – Walla Walla Valley Disability Network
Summer camp program (grades 2 through 4) designed for kids with special needs in mind.

June 20-30: Youth Swimming Lessons 1 – Walla Walla Parks and Recreation
Beginning swimming lessons at Jefferson Pool.

June 21: Explorers Kids Camp – Fort Walla Walla Museum
This fun and educational day camp features guided activity stations that allow children ages 9 to 11 to discover their inner explorers.

June 21-23: Youth Golf Lessons 2 – Walla Walla Parks and Recreation
Golf instruction for all skill levels. For ages 7 to 16.

June 27-29: Youth Tennis Lessons 2 – Walla Walla Parks and Recreation
Tennis instruction for all skill levels. For ages 6 to 18.

June 27-30: Talariah Miniature Horse Camp: Session 3 – Talariah Stables
Kids learn horsemanship and horse safety and interact with miniature horses.

June 27-30: Dance Camp: Sessions 3&4 – Walla Walla Dance Company
Kids camp: Jazz, Hip Hop, Lyrical, and Ballet for ages 5 to 11.

June 27-July 1: Teen Camp – Walla Walla Valley Disability Network
Summer camp program (grades 2 through 4) designed for kids with special needs in mind.

June 28-30: Sweet Lou’s Skills Camp – Walla Walla Sweets Baseball & YMCA
The perfect starter camp for kids ages 6-8. Learn from top college players, coaches who have won NCAA National Championships, and former professional players.

July 5-15: Youth Swimming Lessons 2 – Walla Walla Parks and Recreation
Beginning swimming lessons at Jefferson Pool.

July 5-17: Shakespeare Intensive Camp – Shakespeare Walla Walla & WWCC Foundation
Takes performance skills to the next level and includes in-depth actor training highlighting vocal, physical, and acting techniques. Culminating in a final public showcase, students (ages 14 and up) perform key scenes from the Bard’s most beloved plays on Sunday, July 17.

July 5-17: Shakespeare Players Camp – Shakespeare Walla Walla & WWCC Foundation
An introduction to the language, plot, stories, and themes in Shakespeare’s plays through live performance and narrative. Young students (ages 9 to 13) develop imagination skills, public speaking, and the basics of acting through a modernized version of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream at a final public performance on Sunday, July 17.

July 6-27: Youth Fencing Lessons – Intermediate/Advanced 2 – Walla Walla Parks and Recreation
Fencing instruction for ages 9 to 17.

July 10-31: Youth Fencing Lessons – Beginning 2 – Walla Walla Parks and Recreation
Fencing instruction for ages 9 to 17.

July 11-13: Youth Tennis Lessons 3 – Walla Walla Parks and Recreation
Tennis instruction for all skill levels. For ages 6 to 18.

July 11-14: Fairy Tale Ballet Camp – The Dance Center of Walla Walla
Directed by Idalee Hutson-Fish. For ages 7 to 10.

July 11-14: Dance Camp: Sessions 5&6 – Walla Walla Dance Company
Jazz, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Lyrical, and Ballet with Jennifer and Justine. Ages 9 and up.

July 11-14: Sweets Prospect Camp – Walla Walla Sweets
Campers (ages 8 to 18) learn baseball skills from current college stars, NCAA national champions, and former professional players.

July 11-15: UK International Soccer Camp – Walla Walla Parks and Recreation
Take your soccer skills to the next level with an intense training program for ages 4 to 18.

July 11-17: Stage Fight Camp – Shakespeare Walla Walla & WWCC Foundation
Students (ages 14 to adult) learn both sword fight techniques and unarmed combat, choreographing original fights and rehearsing scenes with dialogue and action. The week ends in a final public demonstrations of skills on Sunday, July 17.

July 11 – Aug. 12: Youth NFL Flag Football League – Walla Walla Parks and Recreation
For boys and girls, grades 2 to 8.

July 11-27: BMX Classes – Walla Walla Parks and Recreation
For anyone age 8-15 to wants to improve their bike skills.

July 12-14: Youth Golf Lessons 3 – Walla Walla Parks and Recreation
Golf instruction for all skill levels. For ages 7 to 16.

July 12-28: Little Kicks Soccer Camp – Walla Walla Parks and Recreation
Little guys and gals (ages 3 to 5) can start learning the basics of soccer while having fun.

July 18-20: Youth Tennis Lessons 4 – Walla Walla Parks and Recreation
Tennis instruction for all skill levels. For ages 6 to 18.

July 18-21: Learn and Serve Summer Camp – United Way of Walla Walla County
Youth (ages 10 to 12) are able to lend a hand in their community, learn important leadership skills, and build up their community through service.

July 18-21: Dance Camp: Sessions 7&8 – Walla Walla Dance Company
Creative, Pre-ballet, Dance Movement, and Hippity Hop for ages 4 to 6. Jazz, Hip Hop, Ballet, and Contemporary for ages 6 to 10.

June 18-28: Youth Swimming Lessons 3 – Walla Walla Parks and Recreation
Beginning swimming lessons at Jefferson Pool.

July 19: Pioneers Kids Camp – Fort Walla Walla Museum
This fun and educational day camp features guided activity stations that allow children ages 9 through 11 to discover their inner pioneers.

July 19-August 7: Musical Theater Camp – Shakespeare Walla Walla & WWCC Foundation
Experience the joy of musical theater! Campers focus on all aspects of musical theater including vocal technique, auditioning, performance, dance instruction and choreography. Morning session for younger participants, evening session for adults. This camp highlights and improves each student’s individual skill, ending with two public cabaret showcases, August 6 & 7.

July 25-28: Holly Claus Ballet Camp – The Dance Center of Walla Walla
Directed by Idalee Hutson-Fish. For ages 4 to 7.

July 26-28: Youth Golf Lessons 4 – Walla Walla Parks and Recreation
Golf instruction for all skill levels. For ages 7 to 16.

July 27-30: Learn and Serve Summer Camp – United Way of Walla Walla County
Middle school youth are able to lend a hand in their community, learn important leadership skills, and build up their community through service.

August 1-4: Tutus & Tiaras Ballet Camp – The Dance Center of Walla Walla
Directed by Idalee Hutson-Fish. For ages 7 to 10.

August 1-4: Camp Jump Start – Walla Walla Parks and Recreation
Hiking, scavenger hunt, orienteering and nature hikes for ages 7-12.

August 1-5: Free Rock Camp – Walla Walla Symphony & Walla Walla Blues Society
Rock camp is FREE to the first 50 students to register and is open to all students in grades 7 -12 (includes students entering 7th grade; no 2016 high school graduates). Culminates in a public performance.

August 1-11: Youth Swimming Lessons 4 – Walla Walla Parks and Recreation
Beginning swimming lessons at Jefferson Pool.

August 2-4: Whittie Lacrosse Camp – Walla Walla Parks and Recreation
Learn the fundamentals of the fastest growing sport in the country. For grades 4-8.

August 8-11: Dance Camp: Sessions 9&10 – Walla Walla Dance Company
Jazz, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Lyrical, and Ballet with Jennifer and Justine. Ages 9 and up.

August 8-18: Ballet Intensive – The Dance Center of Walla Walla
Ballet 3, 4, and 5 directed by Idalee Hutson-Fish.

August 9-12: Learn and Serve Summer Camp – United Way of Walla Walla County
High school youth are able to lend a hand in their community, learn important leadership skills, and build up their community through service.

August 10-11: Warriors Volleyball Camp – Walla Walla Community College
Join Coach Chelsie Speer, Head Volleyball coach at Walla Walla Community College for a summer Volleyball camp! Grades 1 through 8.

August 10-12: Junior Warriors Volleyball Camp – Walla Walla Community College
Join Coach Chelsie Speer, Head Volleyball coach at Walla Walla Community College for a summer Volleyball camp! High school grades Freshman through Senior.

August 10-12: I Love Cheerleading Camp – Walla Walla Parks and Recreation
Girls and boys can learn the basics of cheerleading with the Wa-Hi Cheerleaders. For grades K-5.

August 10-31: Youth Fencing Lessons – Intermediate/Advanced 3 – Walla Walla Parks and Recreation
Fencing instruction for ages 9 to 17.

August 13-14: P’tanque Instruction – Walla Walla Parks and Recreation
Learn a new sport. For ages 10 and up.

August 15-18: Dance Camp: Sessions 11&12 – Walla Walla Dance Company

August 20: Youth Track and Field Clinic – Walla Walla Parks and Recreation
Learn proper form and train with Whitman College athletes. For ages 4-12.
